LaCie Releases 2TB DJI CoPilot Mobile Hard Drive
LaCie, the premium brand under Seagate, and DJI have announced the 2 TB DJI Copilot BOSS USB 3.1 Type-C Mobile Hard Drive. The LaCie DJI Copilot is a portable hard drive designed for photographers and videographers using aerial drones. According to Seagate, the LaCie 2TB DJI CoPilot represents the second phase of collaboration with DJI that began at CES 2017.
The company states that users can expect to store 60 hours of 4K video at 30 frames per second or 20,000 RAW images. They can copy data directly to the drive from USB storage devices (including USB-C), cameras, SD cards, and drones. The company claims the drive is built with built-in protection against drops, spills, and dust, and is designed for on-location outdoor use.
The company describes the new LaCie drive as a complete on-set backup solution that allows drone users to review content without needing a laptop. The DJI CoPilot allows creative professionals and consumers to play back, copy, and manage their drone-captured footage from a mobile device, without the hassle of leaving the scene or firing up a computer.
Users can quickly connect and reference the built-in screen to initiate direct file transfer from an SD card to the LaCie DJI Copilot—no laptop or mobile network required. The LaCie Copilot BOSS (Back-up On-Set Solution) app allows users to play back videos at full resolution, manage and organize files via a phone or tablet, and the built-in power bank can charge your mobile device.
The DJI Copilot is compatible with phones and tablets running iOS 10.3 or Android 4.4 and later, as well as systems running Windows 10 or later, Mac OS X 10.10 or later with USB 3.1 Type-C, Thunderbolt 3, USB 3.0, or USB 2.0 ports.
LaCie's DJI Copilot portable hard drive is perfect for video professionals, but like all hard drives, they are susceptible to logical and physical failures that can render irreplaceable videos and photos inaccessible. To recover their photo and video files, their owners will need to contact a professional data recovery service provider they can trust.
